Something About Raleigh

Leo Manning, a local sales and marketing director based in the Triangle, came to Raleigh by way of Chicago. He was looking for a change of pace from the intensity of his previous Midwestern metropolitan lifestyle, but still wanted to live in an urban environment. In search of a fresh start after moving to Raleigh from Chicago, he asked Otrada Design owner Anita Bhattacharya to create a contemporary feel with multipurpose function throughout his new condo in The Fairweather. I wrote this feature article for Midtown Magazine, interviewing both Anita Bhattacharya, a licensed interior designer, and Leo Manning.

Come One, Come All

There are many reasons why Sarah Bender and Michael Bender chose to call Durham home. It was a city tied to their support system of close friends, woven together in a strong community with an incredible food scene. This is a story about one family’s journey in renovating a 1945 Colonial Revival-style Forest Hills house into a home where all would feel welcome. For this Durham Magazine Home Department column, I interviewed the Bender family and Alicia Hylton-Daniel, their interior designer and licensed general contractor.

Lee Fitch has come a long way since a life-altering accident threw his entire world in disarray. The 10-year-old boy was struck by a moving vehicle on a residential road in Chapel Hill in March of 2021 – a tragic accident that broke Lee’s ribs, back and skull. It also left him with a severe concussion. This tragic accident set in motion efforts to establish a new pediatric rehabilitation center in Chapel Hill.
